Hyundai Motor India today (January 2) unveiled the electric version of its popular mid-size SUV Creta in India. The South Korean automaker will launch the electric SUV at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Hyundai Creta EV will be offered with two battery options: 51.4 kWh and 42 kWh. Four variants will be available in the electric SUV. This includes Executive, Smart, Premium and Excellence variants.
The company claims that the car will travel up to 473 km on a full charge and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. Apart from this, it will get over 70 safety features including Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Level 2. It will be the company’s cheapest electric vehicle. Its starting price can be kept at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with Tata Curve EV, Mahindra BE6, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti E Vitara.
The Creta EV will come with an electric panoramic sunroof.
Exterior Design: 17-inch alloy wheels Hyundai has kept the design of the Creta EV similar to that of the regular Creta SUV. At the front, it gets LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and dual-module vertical LED headlamps like the regular Creta. In between is a pixelated grid with small cubes, in the center of which is a charging port under the Hyundai logo. There are 4 retractable air vents on the lower grille, which will keep the electric motor and battery components cool. The electric vehicle lacks fog lights and silver skid plates.
On the sides of the car, 17-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic design have been provided, which resemble those of the Tata Nexon EV. The silver window trim found in the regular Creta model has been replaced with a black finish. It also has a silver protective plate on the side. A connected LED tail lamp is provided at the rear, which is the same as that of the standard Creta. Here, a black trim is also provided at the bottom of the trunk door, a new bumper with pixel element and a silver skid plate.
Interior and Features: Dual digital display, ventilated front seat The Hyundai Creta EV gets a dual-tone cabin, which will be similar to the standard Creta. It has a 3-spoke steering wheel with drive selector lever like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 car. Its lower center console will also be different.
Like ICE Creta, a dual digital display will be provided on the dashboard. The electric vehicle will also come with features such as a dual-camera dashboard, 10.25-inch digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, vehicle-to-charge (V2L) charging, and a way of driving.
Apart from this, the car features ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) , a three-point seat belt on the rear seat, an adjustable rear headrest, a 60:40 split rear seat and a 2-step recliner are available.
Performance: The Hyundai Creta EV has a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor for performance, with which three driving modes are available: Eco, Normal and Sport. The company claims that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.
To power the electric motor, two battery options of 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh will be supplied with the electric vehicle. The company says the car will travel 473 kilometers on a full charge with the 51.4 kWh battery and 390 kilometers with the 42 kWh battery. Information about the electric motor specifications of the Creta EV has not been revealed yet.
The Creta EV will take 58 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent via a DC fast charger, while the battery will charge from 10 to 100 percent in four hours via an 11 kW AC wall charger.
Safety features: 360-degree camera and ADAS Level 2 For added safety, the car can be equipped with 6 airbags (standard) and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Level 2 features with camera 360-degree, which includes adaptive cruise control and lane keeping. Security features such as support may be included. Apart from this, features like Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Parking Sensor and ISOFIX Child Anchor Seat will also be available.
