In the six months between April and September, India exported ‘Made in India’ iPhones worth $6 billion (around Rs 50,454 crore). This is a third (33%) more than the same period last year.
By the end of the current financial year (2024-25), the export figure could touch $10 billion (around Rs 84,086 crore). Bloomberg gave this information, citing sources.

In this, the local unit of Foxconn is the largest iPhone supplier in India. Apart from this, the company contributes to around half of the iPhone exports from India.
Tata company exported iPhones worth ₹14,292 crore
Between April and September, Tata group company Tata Electronics exported iPhones worth around $1.7 billion (Rs 14,292 crore) from its factory in Karnataka. Tata had purchased this unit from Wistron Corp last year. It is India’s leading assembler of Apple’s best-selling products.
iPhones made in India since 2017
Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with the iPhone SE. It has three EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Service) partners: Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron.
Apple shipped 10 million units for the first time
According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple reached the top spot in terms of revenue generation in India for the first time in 2023. However, Samsung remains ahead in terms of sales.
Counterpoint reported that Apple crossed the 10 million unit shipment mark for the first time last year. According to trade intelligence platform The Trade Vision, Apple’s iPhone exports from India are expected to increase from US$6.27 billion in 2022-23 to US$12.1 billion in 2023-24, i.e. a massive growth of almost 100%.

He said that currently Apple’s sellers and suppliers employ 1.5 lakh people in India. Of these, Tata Electronics, the company that operates two of Apple’s manufacturing plants, is the largest generator of jobs. However, no statement has come from Apple in this regard.
