The new generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire will compete with Honda’s upcoming Amaze.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the new generation model of its best-selling sedan Dezire in India. It has been introduced in both petrol and CNG engine options. The company claims that the CNG version of the car will give a mileage of 33.73 km/kg.

The special thing is that the car was recently tested under the Global NCAP, where it achieved a 5-star safety rating. This is the company’s first car to receive a 5-star safety rating from a crash test agency and is also the first 5-star rated sedan in the Indian market.

The fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire is based on the company’s Maruti Swift hatchback platform, but is completely different in design. The car was presented with an electric sunroof, 6 airbags as standard and many new features in the segment.

Priced starting at Rs 6.79 lakh, the sedan has been launched in the market in just 4 variants – LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. The ex-showroom starting price of the updated model has been kept at Rs 6.79 lakh, which rises to Rs 10.14 lakh in the top ZXI Petrol CNG variant. This price is only valid until the end of 2024.

Maruti Dezire can be availed on a subscription basis, with installments starting from Rs 18,248 per month. This includes registration, maintenance, insurance and roadside assistance. It will compete with Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor in the sedan segment.

Design: 15-inch alloy wheels with LED headlights The 2024 DZire may be built on the Swift sedan platform, but it looks completely different. Its front features a large grille with several horizontal slats, completely different from Swift’s honeycomb-patterned grille.

Stylish LED headlights have been provided on both sides of the grille, on which the DRL (Daytime Running Light) has been positioned horizontally. It features a strong-looking front bumper, which now has a new fog light housing.

However, its side profile and window line still resemble the old version. For driving, it gets new 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, it has Y-shaped LED taillights, connected to a chrome element.

Interior: Design inspired by the Swift facelift and fascias It features a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, sleek air vents and HVAC controls at the bottom.

Apart from this, the car is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car technology, 40+ connected car features, wireless charger, semi-digital cluster with 4.2-inch MID, steering wheel-mounted controls, automatic climate control, push-button. A rear parking camera with sensors and much more will be available.

For passenger safety, it comes with safety features like 6 airbags (standard), 360-degree camera (segment first), electronic stability control (ESC), and rear parking sensor.

Performance: Mileage of 33.73 km/kg in CNG The biggest change in the sedan has been made in its powertrain. In place of the current model’s K12 four-cylinder petrol engine, a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series petrol engine was offered, which powers the new Swift. This engine generates a power of 82 hp and a torque of 112 Nm.

In comparison, the current model generates 90 hp and 113 Nm, or 8 hp and 1 Nm less. The new Swift will have the option of a 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox (AMT) along with the engine for the transmission. This engine generates a power of 70 hp and a torque of 102 Nm on CNG.

Coming to the mileage, the company claims that the car has a mileage of 24.79 km/liter with a petrol engine and manual transmission and 25.71 km/liter with an automatic transmission. At the same time, only the manual transmission option is available in CNG, with which the car has a mileage of 33.73 km/kg.
