Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had claimed in Parliament in September last year that India was involved in Nijjar’s killing.

A Trudeau government minister said Amit Shah ordered the action against Sikh separatists in Canada. According to a Reuters report, Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison made the statement on Tuesday during a parliamentary panel.

Morrison told the parliamentary panel that he had told the US newspaper Washington Post that India’s home minister was involved in the affair. Morrison said it was he who gave the American newspaper information relating to the India-Canada meeting.

Morrison said-

The Washington Post reporter called me and asked if he (Amit Shah) was the same person. I said yes, it’s him.

However, during this time, Morrison could not say how he got this information about Amit Shah. This is the first time that a Canadian official has openly taken the name of an Indian government minister.

Earlier on October 16, Justin Trudeau had told a commission that in September 2023 last year, when he alleged the involvement of Indian agents in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, he only had intelligence information. There was no concrete evidence.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was assassinated on June 18, 2023. In September, the Canadian Prime Minister accused India of this murder.

The Washington Post took the name of the Minister of the Interior. On October 14, the Washington Post claimed, citing Canadian officials, that Interior Minister Amit Shah and Indian intelligence agency RAW had worked together to gather intelligence in Canada and attack Khalistan terrorists. was given.

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indian High Commission in Canada had no immediate comment on the matter. However, the Indian government has refused to get involved in the matter in any way, calling all of Canada’s previous allegations baseless.

Morrison explained why he chose the Washington Post: According to the Canadian newspaper CBC News, David Morrison came to testify before the Public Safety and National Security Committee on Tuesday. MP Raquel Dancho, associated with this committee, asked Morrison how this information reached the Washington Post?

With that, Morrison said:

I deliberately chose the Washington Post. In fact, we wanted an international newspaper that could tell our (Canadian) story. For this, I chose a journalist who had a long experience in this field and who had already written on this subject several times.

Canadian police said Indian agents have collected a lot of information. The recent dispute between Canada and India began on October 13. Canada had sent a letter to India. Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and other diplomats were said to be suspects in the case.

India protested the labeling of its diplomats as suspects and summoned Canada’s ambassador. Hours later, India recalled Sanjay Kumar Verma and other diplomats. After this, Canada also ordered the return of its six Indian ambassadors.

The next day, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian government agents of gathering intelligence, targeting assassinations, threatening Canadian citizens and engaging in violence.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, during his testimony before the commission of inquiry in October, had admitted that he had no evidence against India. This was simply intelligence information.

Canadian police said Indian agents had collected a lot of information. Canadian Police Commissioner Mike Duheme also held a press conference on October 14. It said Indian diplomats and officials in Canada had abused their position and secretly collected information for the Indian government. For this, Indian officials used agents.

The official said some of these agents had been threatened and pressured to work with the Indian government. He said information collected by India was used to target South Asian populations.

Canadian police officials said the next day, October 16, that Khalistanis and people of South Asian descent had been targeted by the Lawrence group. Brigitte Gauvin, assistant commissioner at the RCMP, a Canadian police force, said the Indian government had used the Lawrence Group.

Canadian police made many serious allegations against India during the press conference.
