A Pakistani court on Friday convicted former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in a corruption case. According to Dawn News, Imran was sentenced to 14 years and Bushra to 7 years. Both were accused of causing a loss of 50 billion Pakistani rupees to the national treasury.
Both had sold Pakistani government land worth billions of rupees cheaply to Bushra Bibi’s Al-Qadir Trust. Imran was arrested in this case on May 9, 2023. After this, many important military bases were attacked across the country.
Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Imran Khan (72), Bushra Bibi (50) and six others in December 2023 in the Al-Qadir Trust case. However, before this case was registered against Imran, he was already lodged in Adiala jail in the Toshakhana case. A temporary court was set up in the prison today to sentence him.

The Al-Qadir Trust affair is a Rs 50 billion scam
According to Pakistani media, there are 4 important figures in this case. Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, land mafia billionaire Malik Riaz and Bushra’s friend Farah Gogi. The Pakistani government claims that when Khan became prime minister, he implicated Malik Riaz in a money laundering case. Riyaz’s assets, worth billions of rupees, were confiscated in Britain. One of his henchmen was also arrested in London, from whom 40 billion Pakistani rupees were recovered. Two transactions were reportedly concluded after this affair. Under this, the British government returned the money recovered from Riyaz’s henchman to the Pakistani government. It is alleged that Imran did not inform the cabinet about this money. Instead, he formed a trust named Al Qadir and founded a university to provide religious education. Its board of directors had 3 members. Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi and Farah Gogi In the FIR of this case, it was said that Malik Riaz had given land worth billions of rupees for this. I also gave a diamond ring to Bushra Bibi. In exchange, all of Riyaz’s cases were dropped. Pakistani Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said after Imran’s arrest: “This is the biggest scam in Pakistan’s history. The public treasury suffered a loss of at least Rs 50 billion. Despite this, neither Imran nor Bushra came for questioning even once every 13 months. In 3 years, only 32 students were admitted to this university. According to Geo News, looking into the entire case, a bribe charge of Rs 1,955 crore has been registered against Imran Khan and his wife.

Imran trapped over his wife’s audio leak
Pakistani media published reports about an audio recording of Malik Riaz and his daughter Amber. This leaked video was 2 minutes 17 seconds long. In this, Riyaz and Amber were talking to Bushra about the transaction and the transfer of certain files. In this, Amber tells her father that Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi is asking for a 5 carat diamond ring. In return, she will get Imran’s contracts in Riyaz and will also get the case against him closed. According to the conversation in the leaked tape, Amber told her father, “I had a conversation with Farah Gogi. She says Bushra Bibi wants a diamond not of 3 but of 5 carats. She will have the ring made herself, but we will have to pay for it. Bushra and Farah spoke to Khan Sahab. He will immediately obtain that all contractual files are OK. Thereupon Malik Riaz said – No problem. They send a 5 carat diamond. This contract negotiation is believed to have taken place after the capture of Al Qadir University lands.
