The Israeli army on Thursday targeted the bunker where a meeting of senior Hezbollah officials was to be held.
Hashim Saffieddin, brother of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, killed in the Israeli attack, is also believed to have died. According to the Times of Israel, the Israeli army targeted Saffieddin in Beirut on Thursday.
According to Al Jazeera, the Israeli army fired 11 missiles at the underground bunker. Senior Hezbollah officials were holding a meeting here. Saifidin was also going to participate. It is unclear whether Saifidin achieved this or not. We don’t even know how many people were killed in this attack.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Hezbollah have not issued any statements regarding Saffieddin’s killing. Saifieddin had been associated with Hezbollah since 1982. After Nasrallah’s assassination last week, there was talk of naming him leader of Hezbollah. He is Nasrallah’s cousin.
Saifieddin, like Hassan Nasrallah, wears a black turban. America declared him a terrorist in 2017. He handles Hezbollah’s political affairs. Apart from this, he is also the chairman of the Jihad Council, which plans the organization’s military operations.
Saffieddin is one of six clerics on the Shura Council, Hezbollah’s highest advisory body. She was elected head of the Executive Council in 2001.
This photo of Saifidin is from May 24. He had attended an event after the death of the Iranian president.
