Musk said this in response to a post on X.

Tesla owner and ally in the Trump administration Elon Musk has once again made a statement on H1B visas granted to foreign workers. Calling the program complete, Musk talked about improving it on a large scale.

In response to a post, Musk said this program should be improved by increasing the minimum wage and maintenance. Earlier on Friday last week, Musk posted a message in support of this visa. In this message, Musk even promised to fight for the H1B visa.

Besides Musk, Indian-origin Vivek Ramaswamy, who is joining the Trump administration, also supports the H1B visa program. Every year, around 45,000 Indians travel to America on this visa. Elon Musk also reached America from South Africa on an H1B visa.

Trump reversed on H1B visa

Newly elected US President Donald has changed his stance on the H1B visa. After Musk’s message, Trump also spoke out in favor of this visa. So far, Donald Trump has opposed this program.

Speaking to The New York Times on Saturday (December 28), Trump said he has always supported the visa. Trump said-

I believe in the H-1B visa. There are also many H-1B visas in my companies. I have used it several times and it is a great program.

Donald Trump suspended this visa when he was president in 2020.

What is the H-1B visa?

The H-1B is a nonimmigrant visa that allows U.S. businesses to hire foreign professionals for positions requiring specialized technical skills. Thanks to this visa, technology companies recruit thousands of workers from countries like India and China each year.

The H-1B visa is generally issued to individuals associated with a particular profession (such as IT professionals, architecture, healthcare professionals, etc.). Only professionals who are offered a job can obtain this visa. It depends entirely on the employer. This means that if the employer fires you and another employer does not offer you, the visa will expire.

Trump supporters’ opinions on visas are evenly divided among themselves

Opinions among Trump supporters regarding the H-1B visa are also divided. Trump supporters like Laura Loomer, Matt Gaetz and Ann Coulter openly oppose the visa. These people say that thanks to the H-1B visa, foreigners will get jobs in America and Americans will lose their jobs.

In contrast, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who will soon lead the Trump administration’s Department of Government Effectiveness (DoGE), supported the H-1B visa. They say that to strengthen the American economy, we should hire the best people in the world.

Only Indians get 7 out of 10 H-1B visas.

Let us tell you that America grants H-1B visas to 65,000 people every year. Its deadline is 3 years. If necessary, it can be extended for another 3 years. Indians get 7 out of 10 H-1B visas in America. Next come China, Canada and South Korea.
