What are BRICS and how powerful are they?

The BRICS organization’s journey to get to where it is today took place in three stages

First step – The RIC, meaning Russia, India and China – in the 1990s, these three countries together formed an organization. This organization was headed by Russian leader Eugene Primakov. The goal of bringing the three countries together was to challenge American dominance in global foreign policy and at the same time restore our relations.

Second step- BRIC, i.e. Brazil, Russia, India and China – In 2001, the investment bank Goldman Sachs had described these four countries as the fastest growing economies in the world. After that, in 2009, these countries came together and formed an organization called BRIC.

third step– BRICS, that is to say Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. – In 2010, South Africa was integrated into this organization to represent the African continent. Then this organization took its final form and was called BRICS.

Today, BRICS has become the third most powerful economic organization in the world, surpassing the EU.

Even when Western countries were mired in recession, BRICS countries made rapid progress. In 2008-2009, when Western countries were going through an economic crisis. Even then, the economy of the BRICS countries was growing rapidly. The very concept of the formation of the BRICS organization is based on the basis of the “rising economy”.

This means the economies of countries that have the courage to move forward quickly and compete with Western countries. Previously, Western countries controlled 60-80% of the world economy, today the BRICS countries are gradually taking their place.

Pakistan also wants to become a member of BRICS

Pakistan also applied last year to join BRICS, the world’s third most powerful economic organization. He also expressed hope for Russia’s help in becoming a BRICS member in 2024.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, had given this information in an interview with the TASS news agency last year. He had said that Pakistan had requested to become a member of BRICS. We hope that Russia will help us in this.
